Aspects of the Mind

The attempt to understand how the Mind works has led to the introduction of concepts such as consciousness, intelligence, thought, imagination, will, sentience and so on. Even so, the relationship between these concepts and the nature of Mind is still not properly understood. It is not clear whether these concepts are variations of one another or whether they reflect independent properties of the Mind. So it is no surprise that there are many theories in literature concerning the origin and dynamics of the Mind and it’s attributes. The purpose of this post however, is not to explore the various theories but rather to consider the concept of Mind and its properties in relation to the paradigm of Mind and Matter.

According to the paradigm, Mind is the vehicle that Matter uses to realize its own being. The paradigm makes us understand that realization is not possible without the input of Experience by Matter into Mind through conduit of Awareness. This connection between Mind, Matter, Awareness and Experience is illustrated in Fig A. below.

The key to remember here is that all three aspects, Mind, Matter and Awareness exist simultaneously. None can exist without the other. Matter and Mind are two sides of the same coin literally speaking while Awareness is the sheath through that wraps around Experience thus enabling it to be delivered and used by the Mind.

Remembering from the paradigm that Matter is Creation condensed in space and time, we could make an intuitive leap to the suggestion that Matter could be thought of as states of polarisation of Creation, where Creation can be visualized as a dynamic potential well with special properties as explained here. In this case, the sum over all possible polarisation states of the potential well would constitute the totality of the Mind. This makes sense since Matter can only realize itself by injecting the Mind with Experiences as shown in Fig A. Now the potential well can have an infinite array of possible polarisation states, implying that Mind can have an infinite array of polarisation states or levels.

So how are the polarisation states connected to Experience? In other words, what role does experience have to play in shaping the Mind? Well, the answer is that different experiences give rise to unique polarisation states. And these unique polarisation states embody various aspects of the Mind. In other words, the various aspests of the Mind, for example, the objective mind, embody a set of polarisation states of the mind that handle specific types of experience. This implies that Matter can only realize itself in a given polarized state depending on what is experienced. For example, man realizes that he is aware of his self and the environment through the use of his sight, sound, taste, etc. In this instance, all phenomena that are realized through the use of sight encapsulate a specific type of experience. Sight itself is the sheath of awareness that arises from the complex matter composition of the organ we call the eye. The realization of sight can only take place because of the polarization of a specific aspect of Mind in response to the input experience via the specific awareness of sight.
It is important not to confuse awareness with the concept of consciousness. Consciousness, unlike awareness can never be switched off. As long as Matter exists so does Awareness. The two are inseparable.

Therefore, to summarize, all aspects of the Mind, e.g. Consciousness, Will, Imagination, etc embody specific states of polarization of the Mind And these states of polarisation are defined by Experience obtained from the interaction of matter with the environment in accordance to the laws of Evolution. It becomes obvious that to understand the dynamics of these various states of polarisation, not only between one another but also in relation to the states of polarisation of other Minds associated with other Matter, the nature of Experience – its purpose and dynamics, must be thoroughly understood. This is the only way to uncover and tap fully into the potential of Mind. It is worth noting here that Mind itself cannot grow. Its complexity is a direct function of the complexity of Matter. However, its potential be used to in achieving full realization of the psyche of Matter is unlimited. The level to which this can be achieved is determined only by the data that is pumped into the Mind by way of Experience – in the same way that the forces that electromagnetic force remains unchanged in its nature and characteristic but is unlimited in its technological applications.
